The sculpture is dedicated to the honorary citizen of the city of Rakvere - the world-famous composer Arvo Pärt, who spent his childhood and youth years in Rakvere and began his music studies here.

The figure is inspired by the composer in his youth when he went to Market Square (now Central Square) to listen to the radio programs and music from the loudspeaker at the telephone post.

The sculpture was opened on the composer's 75th birthday on September 11, 2010 at Rakvere Central Square.

The authors of the sculpture are sculptors Aivar Simson and Paul Mänd.
