The Rakvere oak forest is a unique green area in the nordic urban landscape - it is one of the few preserved oak forests in Northern Estonia.

It is believed that the current Rakvere oak grove was once a sacred forest for Estonians.

Tammik is a popular place for recreation and sports and a natural classroom for school students.

The 23 ha of oak tracks are about 3 kilometers long. The Tammiku hiking trails have information boards that introduce 150-220-year-old oaks, the trail features various lichens, plant and tree species, and a species-rich forest bird.

Here is also the "Okaskroon" memorial to the repressed by the Soviet authorities and the German military cemetery.

Come and enjoy nature!
